Team 5950's advice to NEW robotics teams!

#1 Advice to new teams: Pick one or two people from your team to keep picture/scrapbook for the whole year.

Follow Team 5950 in Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/team5950/

Get a nice camera and document your team’s progress. It is amazing to look back through the pictures to see where you started and the challenges you had to overcome. You should also start social medias: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc., to keep your school, community members, and everyone you know updated.

#2 Avice to new teams: Social Media Networking with All other FRC teams!

Social media spreads the FIRST message all over the world. You can talk to other teams and share ideas. Remember to be consistent!

#3 Advice to new teams: Do not get mad or discouraged if your robot is not good!

Your rookie year is all about learning. While having a robot that gets far in the competition is great, just having it move is an amazing accomplishment for your first year.

#4 Advice to new teams:  You can do anything to fundraise!

From cooking breakfast to picking grapes, we host pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, and other fundraisers. Our main fundraiser this year is the build-a-bot campaign and GoFundMe. These two fundraisers help raise a lot of money. Be creative! Don’t be afraid to take chances and do weird things to make money. And do not hesitant to fundraise. Things may fall through, and you just have to deal with it.

One thing we do to raise money is grape-picking.

There is a local vineyard in our area and we have picked grapes for them several times.

Doing these fundraisers helps you gain connections and know more people, which may lead to more sponsors.
